HAMMOND BICYCLE MASTER PLAN
HAMMOND BICYCLE MASTER PLAN
Dana Brown & Associates was enlisted as a technical subconsultant by the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission to conduct a bicycle and pedestrian circulation master plan Stage 0 Feasibility Study for the City of Hammond. The primary purpose of the study was to link Hammond’s downtown core to surrounding amenities including Hammond Square Mall, Southeastern Louisiana University, nearby neighborhoods, and nearby parks. This study was also geared towards generating an inventory of ADA compliance and pedestrian circulation conditions of federal-aid eligible routes. Over the course of the project, Dana Brown & Associates was responsible for conducting onsite inventory and analysis, as well as producing analysis maps that illustrated those findings.
This information was used to produce a series of master plan options that were presented to the City of Hammond. From these options, a final bicycle master plan was created that featured favorable components of each of its predecessors. This final plan was further developed by studying typical cross-sections and more detailed plans. The result of this study was a Stage 0 Report that was provided to the client complete with cost estimates and phasing plans that will facilitate them in implementing the project as funding becomes available. The City of Hammond has implemented initial phases of the plan.
