LAFITTE GREENWAY

LAFITTE GREENWAY

In 2008, Dana Brown & Associates developed the initial Lafitte Greenway Master Plan for the Friends of Lafitte Greenway (FOLG) under the Professional Pro Bono Work agreement between the National Park Service and the American Society of Landscape Architects. The Master Plan supported efforts by the FOLG to obtain funds for implementation of the Greenway. In 2012, DBA was hired as a DBE subconsultant to prepare construction documents, estimate construction costs, and provide construction administration services for implementation of the Greenway. As part of this effort, DBA designed native meadows, large bioswales, and plantings for the Greenway. The Lafitte Greenway has become an iconic landscape, responding to the unique New Orleans settlement patterns, while seamlessly connecting culturally diverse neighborhoods. It is used by several hundred thousand visitors each year.
