TOWN OF SUNSET COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

Dana Brown & Associates was commissioned to create a comprehensive plan and new zoning and subdivision regulations for the Town of Sunset, Louisiana. In a small town with deep cultural roots like Sunset, a fully customized plan is critical to ensure that growth is facilitated while the character of the town is preserved. DBA staff immersed themselves into the Town of Sunset, attending festivals and other events and spending weekends shopping and dining around the town. DBA generated an implementation strategy prioritized to quickly implement parts of the plan while setting the stage for implementing more complex and costly recommendations later. A major component of implementation is the development of a new comprehensive zoning ordinance. Using extensive outreach and interactive public and stakeholder workshops, the comprehensive planning process proceeded smoothly and lead to unanimous adoption by the Town Council.
